Dedicated to conservation of the African Lion

Sarel van der Merwe

At long last, after more than two years, ALWG has its own website again, thanks to my good friend, Analize Viljoen.

Analize, it is no doubt more payment than what I deserve. Thank you.

I am looking forward to receive letters from people globally who are interested in free ranging lion conservation. There is so much going wrong with the diversity of our natural landscapes right under our noses without us being aware of it. Now, with the possibility of fracking in Botswana’s Kalahari, the threat to the Kalahari Lion is even more of a real concern. It seems as if conservation is the very last thing that comes to mind when governments draft their master plans. In the end, very little will remain to preserve – that is if Mother Earth does not decide to shrug off humankind from her back sooner than we think.

Life does not begin with the switching off of a light – it ends there. Life begins with nature and the many wonderful things that make up its framework. Please tread carefully on Mother Earth’s face.

So interesting chatting to you and Francis at Baviaans. Nico and I would like to support any initiative wherever we can. We lost your email addresses in the washing machine. Francis may have ours. Love to receive private contact from you both.
Sorry if off topic for this forum, but genuinely interested in learning more about the fracking and what possibilites etc of it going ahead or stopping it.
    Indeed very sad.
